What is it

Venetian Plaster Info

Origin: It dates back to ancient Rome but was perfected in Venice during the Renaissance (hence the name). Its making a real resurgence with new effects and products that create such awesome interior features.

Composition: Traditionally this was made from slaked lime (calcium hydroxide) and finely ground marble powder. The Modern versions we use at sabi-studio include acrylics for easier application and durability.

Texture & Finish: When applied and burnished (polished with a trowel), it produces a deep, glossy, almost translucent effect that mimics natural stone or marble. It can also be left more matte or subtly textured or it can be super smooth.. it can even be tied into Micro Cement areas.

Application: Applied in thin layers (usually 2–3 coats), then compressed and polished. Its a highly skilled application and we like to term it an Art!

Benefits:
- Breathable (lets moisture escape — great for old buildings)

 - More cost effective than Micro Cement
- Naturally mold- and mildew-resistant (because of lime)
- Very durable and elegant-looking

- Can betinted with natural pigments to create warm, earthy tones

Common Uses:
Feature walls, ceilings, lobbies, any interior walls that are not in constant contact with traffic or water
